Social and cultural aspects on obesity: necessary reflections from public health

Obesity is a disease that straddles medical-nutritional, psychological and socio-cultural The relationship between lifestyles and obesity is becoming more evident, but not always the public health policies are focused in this light. The aim of this paper is to present an overview of obesity from an open perspective, paying greater attention to the social aspects related to obesity while the nutritional reviewing some aspects of this chronic disease from different perspectives, looking contact points and elements that contribute to a better understanding of this pathology. As a public health and a multidimensional social problem, obesity must be dealt with in a holistic, open and cross-disciplinary manner to ensure that it can be understood coherently
